Dial-in out-of-band access If there are difficulties in accessing the console server through the main operating network path, the Administrator can access it out-of-band (OoB) from a remote location using a dial-up modem or ISDN connection.
First the Administrator must connect a modem to the Console/Modem port, then enable OoB dial-in access on the IM/CM/SD4000 gateway. Once set-up for dial-in PPP access, the gateway will await an incoming dial-in connection from a remote site:
Then set up the remote client dial-up software so it can establish a network connection from the Administrator's client modem to the dial-in modem on the IM/CM/SD4000. If you are using the SDTConnector client it can be set up to OoB connect to the remote IM/CM/SD4000 at the click of a button - as described in faq276. |
