GPS support on ACM5004-G-I and IM200-G The ACM5004-G-I and IM4200-G can provide GPS NMEA data streaming from the internal GSM cellular modem. With the ACM5004-G-I, this data stream presents as a serial data steam on port 5. For the IM4200-G with an internal cellular modem, the NMEA data stream presents on ports 9/17/33/49 for the IM4208/16/32/48 models. Note: GPS support is not available for devices with an externally attached cellular modem. GPS support is also not available for any CDMA (Verizon) modem. To enable GPS The ACM5004-G-I and IM4200-G models have dual SMA antenna connectors. The AUX connector can be used either for receive diversity or for GPS. An external GPS passive antenna with magnetic base, SMA connector and 2 meter cable is available (Part # 569008). GPS is enabled using the Serial & Network: Serial Port settings for the NMEA virtual serial port (port 5, 9, 17, 33 or 49 as appropriate). The Common Settings (baud rate etc) are ignored for this port; however you can specify the Fix Frequency. This GPS fix rate determines how often GPS fixes are obtained. You can also apply all the Console Server Mode, Syslog and Serial Bridging settings to this port. Note: The NMEA Streaming menu item should display on the Serial & Network: Serial Port menu. However for earlier revision ACM5004-G-I units you may need to update the setfset settings from the command line: setfset -r lists all of the current feature set variables. You look for the factory_opts variable, and then add 3g-gps to it. For example, factory_opts=rs485,3g,ind. To update it to 3g-gps, you do the following: setfset -u factory_opts=rs485,3g-gps,ind Then run setfset -r again, and make sure you can see the update To view the GPS NMEA data stream You can use pmshell, webshell, SSH, RFC2217 or RawTCP to get at the stream.
For example using the Web Terminal:
