Licenses
Most components of the software are licensed under the GNU General Public License (version 2). You may obtain a copy of the GNU General Public License at www.fsf.org/copyleft/gpl.html. The family User Manual contains a list of the key commands, utilities and applications included in the IMG/IM/CM/SD/KCS build trees. Also as stated in the Quick Start Manuals, Opengear will provide source code for any of the components of the software licensed under the GNU General Public License upon request:
- The IMG/IM/CM/SD/KCS products are all built upon the okvm console management software (whose development Opengear sponsors). This is GNU GPL code and the source is available from okvm.sourceforge.net.
- The SDT Connector remote access client builds from the sdtcon SSH tunneling management tool (whose development Opengear sponsors). This is GNU GPL code and the source is available from sdtcon.sourceforge.net.
- The IMG/IM/CM/SD/KCS products are built on the uClinux kernel and embody a selection of BusyBox and other utilities. These are licensed under GNU GPL and full source is available from uclinux.org and busybox.net.
- The IMG/IM/CM/SD BIOS (boot loader code) is a port of uboot which is also a GNU GPL package with source openly available. The KCS product has a licensed Award BIOS.
- The power device management functions in the console servers are built on the Network UPS Tools, Powerman and ipmitool software- all of which are GNU GPL licensed with source openly available.
- The IMG/IM/CM/SD/KCS products contain nagios management and monitoring software and may embed communications and security software built on open SSH, rdesktop, real VNC, universal SSL and open SSL - all of which are GNU GPL licensed.
- To create a firmware image for the range of Opengear family of console servers, download the source from www.opengearweb.org/ (alternately you can download a CDK for each Opengear product).
- The IMG/IM/CM/SD/KCS CGIs (the html code, xml code and web config tools for the Console Manager) are proprietary to Opengear, however the code will be provided to customers under NDA.
