Activating your AT&T, Sprint or Verizon 3G cellular connection When connected on the Verizon, Sprint or AT&T cellular network, the internal or external cellular modem on your ACM5000 or IMX4200 will need to be activated (and possibly provided with a publicly reachable IP address for out-of-band access). This can undertaken by your account manager if you already have a corporate account with one of these carriers. Alternately you can contact the carrier directly. For example, customers contact Verizon via web or phone to register the ESN. Verizon will provide you with data plan /payment options. Once you have confirmed a service, activation is done over the air or while on the phone with Verizon. Alternate activation services An alternate to adding the new connection yourself is to use a third party Wireless Data Device Activation System, such as the one provided by Premier Wireless Solutions (PWS). For details of PWS Activation refer:
CDMA cellular modem provisioning - Verizon After creating an account with a carrier and adding a line for the ACM5000-GV/GS or IMX4200-G some carriers require an additional step referred to as "Provisioning". Opengear devices support both Over-the-Air Service Provisioning (OTASP) where modem specific parameters can be retrieved via a voice call to a special phone number; as well as a Manual process where the phone number and other parameters can be entered manually. Out of the two major CDMA carriers in the US (Verizon & Sprint), only Verizon required this provisioning step. Also note that before this step, you need both a working account and an activated device in that the Opengear's ESN (Electronic Serial Number) needs to be registered with an appropriate plan on your carriers account.
